Lisa Travis has had a 40-year career in dance as a performer, choreographer and teacher. She was the founder of Terminal Hip Dance Theatre, a collaborative ensemble in NH and a performer with Emmy Award winner Billbob Browns’ Chaos Theory Dance. She began her teaching career at New Hampton School where she held the position of Director of Dance for 8 years. Lisa then went on to serve on the faculty of Plymouth State University in the department of Music, Theater and Dance. During her 20+years at PSU, she taught dance pedagogy and technique courses, as well as choreographing for the Musical Theater Department and the Contemporary Dance Ensemble. In 2006, she traveled to Vietnam as guest choreographer for the Vietnamese National Opera and Ballet with her colleague Dr Perkins and in 2019 had the honor of performing Brilliant Being at the Prague Quadrennial, an original work by Matthew Kizer, Paul Mroczka and Amanda Whitworth. In 2011 she was the recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Lecturer Award, recognizing her hard work and dedication to her students and the world of dance. She has choreographed for community and professional theaters in NH, receiving a NH Theater Award in 2017 for best community production at the Little Church Theatre. Lisa is a 500 hour Advanced Shakti Flow Yoga Guide and enjoys teaching yoga in retirement.
