Location: Scene Shop, Hanaway Theatre, Cheney Theatre
Time Commitment: Must be present for all paint calls in the assigned semester*
Responsibilities:
- Checking email regularly to see when paint calls are being organized
- There isn’t always a lot of notice before paint calls are scheduled, so diligence in checking email is a must
- Arriving ON TIME and being ready to start painting
- Change into paint clothes before your call time
- Painting scenery in accordance with the Scenic Designer’s paint elevations
- Elevations = floor plans, scenic drawings, anything that shows painted scenery or floor
- Thoroughly cleaning brushes and tools when you are finished using them
- Leaving a brush covered in paint, even for an hour, will cause it to solidify and ruin the brush. Don’t assume that somebody else will take care of it.
- Daneé is happy to demonstrate proper brush care – a must, especially if using specialty scenic brushes.
- Containers of paint must be firmly closed and put away
- Any spills need to be cleaned up immediately
- Painting in the theatre must stop no less than two hours before actors go onstage
- If costumes get paint on them, Daneé will be very, very sad and very, very sarcastic. It’s not worth the hassle. (Sincerely, Daneé)

Anything Else: *If a paint call is missed, the student is responsible for making up the time by doing another task assigned at the instructors’ discretion.
Just like with the Scene Shop 40-hour practicum, you will not be able to work less than 1.5 hours at a time.
Please wear clothing that you are okay with destroying, including shoes (thrifting is an excellent option, and Ladders is just down the road)
