Company Biographies

 

BRIAN RILEY BEST (Peter Creatchit) Currently in his third year here at Plymouth State University. Brian Riley Best is majoring in history with a minor in theater and is also involved in various activities at Plymouth State such as hosing his own show on the WPCR campus radio station. He has previously appeared in the Silver Center’s production of Sweet Charity where he played the Ice Cream Vendor and one of the Male Panhandlers. He wishes to thank Sharleigh Thomson, Robert Herstedt, Samantha Leone, and Francis Page for all the support they have given him throughout this production.

MELISSA FURBISH (Belle/Ghost of Christmas Present) is a PSU Interdisciplinary Studies (Theatre & Education) Alumna ’14. Past performances include: Oliver! (Nancy), Shrek (Dragon/Mama Bear), Fiddler on the Roof (Fruma Sarah), The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Mother Teresa), The Crucible(Abigail Williams)and Gypsy (Gypsy Rose Lee). She is also a wife and mother, PSU staff member, and the singer of the local rock band, “The Uncle Steve Band.” She feels very blessed to be a part of the show, and thanks God, her family, Fran, and the cast and crew for the memorable experience.

PATRICK GLEICH (Harry Cratchit) is a sixth grade student at Thornton Central School in Thornton, NH. Past Performances include: PSU’s Mary Poppins (Michael Banks), Stormy Weather and Peace Child. He would like to thank Fran Page for this opportunity to perform at Plymouth State University for a second straight show. To the cast and crew of A Christmas Carol, he offers his gratitude and thanks for all the fun. Most of all, he would like to thank his mother for her support and opportunity to perform with both his Dad and sister on stage

JAMES GLEICH (Bob Cratchit) is a Pare-Educator at Campton Elementary School, Circus Artist (Juggling Jim) and a Stage Combat instructor / Fight Choreographer. Past performances include: Mary Poppins (Park Keeper), Shrek the Musical (Thelonius, villager), King Lear (PRHS / Fight Choreographer), Peter Pan (Pirate / Fight Choreographer), Beauty and the Beast (Fight Double / Fight Choreographer). Jim would like to Fran Page for this wonderful opportunity to perform with his children Grace and Patrick. He would like to thank his wife for all her support and understanding throughout the production.

GRACE GLEICH (Felicity) is an eight-grade student at Thornton Central School in Thornton, NH. She has studies dance at Synergy Dance School of Plymouth. Grace has also studied dance at Tara Littles Dance and Ninth State Dance Studio. Past performances: Shrek Jr. (Fiona), Beauty and the Beast Jr. (Enchantress), Stormy Weather and Peace Child. She also studied Stage Combat for several years. Grace would like to thank Fran Page for this great opportunity to perform with Plymouth State University. She would like to thank her mother for all her support and understanding throughout the production.

CALYSTA JACOBS (Jacob Marley/Martha Cratchit) is a Senior at Plymouth State. She is a double major in Theatre Arts with an option in Musical Theatre and Music Contract with an option in Vocal Performance. This will be her fourth show at Plymouth State University. Past performances include: Stage Kiss (Laurie/Millicent,) Merrily We Roll Along (Beth’s Mother/Ensemble,) and A Dream Play (Solicitor.) Cali is grateful to be performing with this lovely cast and crew. Cali would like to thank her wonderful mother for always giving her support and for keeping her on track.

SAMANTHA LEONE (Stage Manager) is a Senior Theatre Arts major with an option in Music Theatre Performance and contract in Stage Management. She is so thrilled to be a part of this process and show with such a talented group. Past performances include Sweet Charity (Frenchie), Much Ado About Nothing (Ursula), Cowboys! The Musical (Toadsticker/Judge Mean Boss Lynch III), Carrie (Ensemble), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Rona ’14, Olive ’12), and Pippin (Berthe). She would like to thank her family for always supporting her in everything she does.

PAIGE MACDONALD (Assistant Producer) is a a senior Theatre Arts major, with options in Music Theatre Performance and Arts Administration. She has appeared in a number of productions at Plymouth State including MaryPoppins(Mrs. Banks), MerrilyWeRollAlong(Meg/U.S. Beth ), and Carrie(Ensemble). In addition to spot op, she has also worked behind the scenes for shows such as WeddingSinger and StageKiss. This season, she adds producing to the list. She would like to thank the cast and crew for making this process so enjoyable. You all shine!

NICKE MORRIS (Fezziwig/Ghost of Christmas Past) is a senior Acting Major at Plymouth State University.  Prior credits include: A Dream Play (Agnes), Legally Blonde: the Musical! (Serena), and Much Ado about Nothing (Margaret). Nicke would like to thank this wonderful cast and crew for their hard teamwork and her friends for their support.

MARGARET MCGOVERN (Lilly) is a senior Voice Performance and Pedagogy major at Plymouth State University. You may have seen her recently in Sweet Charity (Ursula March), Merrily We Roll Along (Scotty), and Carrie (Margaret White) at PSU. She has had such a great time with this cast putting a new spin on this Christmas classic!

EVA NAGORKA (Ann Cratchit) is a native of Washington, DC, has performed in numerous venues in the Nation’s Capital and New Hampshire. Ms. Nagorka holds a Doctor of Arts in Leadership from Franklin Pierce University, Master of Music Education from Boston University, and Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts. Dr. Nagorka’s career involves the teaching and coaching of singers at the high school, college, and adult level. She serves on the Music, Theatre, and Dance faculty at Plymouth State University. Previous appointments include Associate Professor, George Washington University.

FRAN PAGE (Director) holds a BA in Acting from Plymouth State University and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art with a focus on Theatre for Social Change from Goddard College. He is a Teaching Lecturer at PSU where he teaches courses in the Music, Theatre, and Dance Department and the Standardized Patient Program. Fran has directed, taught, and acted extensively throughout New England. He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Little Church Theater and Center for Creativity and spends his winters working with The Educational Theatre Collaborative (ETC) at PSU. Previous directing credits include: Deathtrap (PSU), Sweet Charity (PSU), You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Assistant Director – Jean’s Playhouse), Into the Woods, Jr. (Interlakes Children’s Theater), Master Class (PSU), A Man of No Importance (PSU), A Funny Thing Happened… (PSU), Avenue Q (PSU), Rent: School Edition (Stages Academy), La Cage aux Folles (Portland Players), Pippin (Portland Players and St, Joseph’s College of Maine). Fran’s original solo musical, BareFruit was produced at the West End Studio Theatre (Portsmouth, NH), PortFringe (Portland, ME), and Plymouth State University.

SCOTT SWEATT (Ebeneezer Scrooge) is no stranger to the Hannaway stage having previously performed in the ETC productions of Seussical (Horton), and Marking the Moment (Nathaniel Hawthorn). Recent credits include: Disney’s Newsies (Wiesel, Jacobi, Teddy Roosevelt), 42nd Street (Anne’s Dillon), On Golden Pond (Charlie Martin) all at the New London Barn Playhouse. Leading Ladies (Doc), Avenue Q (Brian) at Jean’s Playhouse. Scott is a graduate of Skidmore College and holds an MFA from Columbia University. Many thanks to familiar faces of collaborators old and new who helped bring this classic tale to this beloved place!

JACOB TILTON (Fred) is a Senior Theatre Arts major with an option in Acting. Past performances include The Trial (various), Merrily We Roll Along (Tyler), Cowboys! (Alfred), and Sweet Charity (ensemble). He’d like to thank his friends and family for all their support in his endeavors.
